How Sanyan Began
“I couldn’t find a fashion brand that represented all of me — so I created one.”
Sanyan was born from a gap Karen Williams, Creative Director and founder of SANYAN, felt deeply: clothing that honored heritage, carried meaning, and fit beautifully into everyday life.
Sanyan’s story begins with one woman’s journey to feel represented. Born in the UK to Caribbean parents with African roots, Karen longed for clothes that carried cultural identity while still being wearable, modern, and chic. What started as sketches and a few handmade pieces became a brand for women who wanted to celebrate where they come from, without losing comfort or style.
Our history is still being written, but at its heart is connection: to culture, to community, and to self.

Co-founder and Strategic Advisor
Ola Adeyemi is Co-Founder of Sanyan, with a focus on strategy and partnerships. He is responsible for sourcing fabrics across West Africa, building strong relationships with manufacturers and suppliers, and ensuring the quality of both fabric and production. Ola’s work keeps Sanyan’s collections rooted in authenticity and excellence, while strengthening the brand through sustainable, trusted partnerships.
