MEET THE FOUNDER

Karen Williams

Founder and Creative Director

Every Sanyan piece is cut and sewn by hand here in Leeds, in West African cotton print. No factory line, no thousand-unit runs which is why no two of the same dress are ever cut from quite the same part of the cloth.
It's also why the fit works the way it does. An infinity dress ties a different way each time you wear it. A wrap top closes where you want it to. Bodies change through a week, a year, a pregnancy and I made these to change with them, rather than be replaced.

One minute, start to finish.

No tutorial marathon. Lay it flat against your hairline, bring the ends round to the back, cross them once and bring them forward again. The wire holds every step while you work nothing unravels behind you.

Then shape the front however you like it: a high fan, a soft roll, a flat band. Press it into place and it stays until you decide otherwise.

  1. Centre it at the hairline, wire edge forward.
  2. Take both ends behind, cross them, and bring them back to the front.
  3. Tuck the tails and bend the wire into your shape.
